4th Ordinary Session of the Specialized Technical Committee on Transport, Transcontinental and Interregional Infrastructure and Energy (STC-TTIIE) in Zanzibar, Tanzania, the CMP, and AfSEM were endorsed by the AU Energy Ministers.

The AU Heads of States summit was held in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia at which the CMP and AfSEM were endorsed as AU Agenda 2063 flagship projects.
